Part 3 -- Details of Oakville Transit service changes



Oakville Transit is extensively revising its routes and services today, Sunday, September 6.

Oakville Transit is introducing new grid routes, introducing new local routes, canceling current routes; cancellng former extra service to high schools; revising current routes, increasing the hours of service along current routes, decreasing the frequency of service along current routes, introducing new extra service to high schools; adjusting the schedules of current routes; and maintaining some current routes without changes.


Oakville Transit is changing most of its routes:

Revising current routes

15 Bridge

Starting Tuesday, September 8, eastbound buses start their trips at Hopedale Mall terminal, then proceed:

westward along Rebecca Street;
northward along Bronte Road; and then
eastward along Bridge Road to Trevor Drive,
resuming their current route eastward along Bridge.

Westbound buses operate along their current route to Bridge Road and Third Line, then proceed:

westward along Bridge;
southward along Bronte Road; and then
eastward along Rebecca Street to Hopedale Mall terminal,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses operating along the revised 15 Bridge route serve current route 16 Speers westbound stops along Bridge Road between Third Line and Bronte Road and current route 16 Speers eastbound stops along Rebecca Street between Bronte Road and Hopedale Mall terminal Mondays to Saturdays.

Buses operating along the new 2 Lakeshore route replace current route 15 northbound stops along Bronte Road between Rebecca Street and Waterford Street.

Saturday, September 5 is the last day that Oakville Transit buses operate along Trevor Drive or Waterford Street.

Also starting Tuesday, September 8, buses resume their regular route along Queen Mary Drive and Shepherd Road, when the Shepherd Road bridge re-opens after construction.

28 Glen Abbey North

Starting Tuesday, September 8, buses operate along a slightly revised route Mondays to Saturdays, no longer serving stops along Nottinghill Gate between Pilgrim’s Way and Upper Middle Road West, Fourth Line, West Oak Trails Boulevard and Upper Middle Road West. All buses operate along their current route to Nottinghill Gate and Pilgrim’s Way and then continue westward along Pilgrim’s seven days a week.

(During Monday-to-Friday rush hours, buses continue to operate beyond their usual terminal at Third Line to continue westward along Merchants Gate, counterclockwise along Heritage Way and then eastward along Merchants to Third Line, as currently.)

Starting Tuesday, September 6 buses operating along the 13 West Oak Trails route serve current route 28 stops along West Oaks Boulevard seven days a week. Buses operating along the 6 Upper Middle route serve current route 28 stops along Upper Middle Road West seven days a week.

Saturday, September 5 is the last day that Oakville Transit buses serve current route 28 stops along Nottinghill Gate between Pilgrim’s Way and Upper Middle Road East and along Fourth Line, except for buses operating along high school special routes.

11 Linbrook

Starting Tuesday, September 8, Oakville Transit is revising the route.

Eastbound buses start their trips at the Oakville GO Station, then proceed along their current route to Devon Road and Maplegrove Drive. The buses then proceed:

east - and southward along Devon;
westward along Lakeshore Road East; and then
northward along Maplegrove Drive to Devon Road,
resuming their current route northward along Maplegrove to Maplegrove Village.

Westbound buses start their trips at Maplegrove Village, proceed along their current route to Maplegrove Drive and Devon Road, then proceed:

southward along Maplegrove;
eastward along Lakeshore Road East;
north- and westward along Devon Road to Maplegrove Drive,
resuming their regular route westward along Devon to Oakville GO Station.

Buses operating along the revised route replace the current 17 Kerr - Eastlake service along Devon Road between Maplegrove Drive and Lakeshore Road East and along Lakeshore East between Devon Road and Charnwood Drive and along Maplegrove Drive between Elmhurst Drive and Lakeshore. They introduce Monday-to-Saturday service along Maplegrove Drive between Elmhurst Drive and Devon Road.

19 River Oaks

Starting Sunday, September 6, southbound buses operate along their current route to Sixth Line at River Oaks Boulevard, then proceed:

southward along Sixth Line to Upper Middle Road, resuming their current route southward along Sixth.

Northbound buses reverse this routing.

Revising the route introduces new transit service along Sixth Line between River Oaks Boulevard and Upper Middle Road.

Buses operating along the 190 River Oaks Express route serve current eastbound route 19 stops along River Oaks Boulevard between Sixth Line and Oakmead Boulevard during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours only. Buses operating along the 190 River Oaks Express route serve current westbound route 19 stops along River Oaks Boulevard between Oakmead Boulevard and Sixth Line during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours.

Buses operating along the 6 Upper Middle route serve stops along Upper Middle Road East between Sixth Line and Oakmead Boulevard seven days a week.

Saturday, September 5 is the last day that Oakville Transit buses serve current route 19 stops along Oakmead Boulevard, except for buses operating along high school special routes.

13 West Oak Trails

Starting Sunday, September 6, buses operate between Bronte and Oakville GO Stations seven days a week.

Eastbound buses start their trips at Bronte GO Station and proceed:

westward along Wyecroft Road;
northward along Bronte Road;
eastward into the Halton Regional Centre;
westward out of the Halton Regional Centre;
northward along Bronte;
east- and southward along West Oak Trails Boulevard;
eastward along Upper Middle Roads West and East;
southward along Oxford Street;
eastward along Culham Street;
southward along Sixth Line;
eastward along Leighland Avenue;
southward to Oakville Place;
northward out of Oakville Place;
eastward along Leighland;
southward along Trafalgar Road;
westward along Cross Avenue; and then
southward into the Oakville GO Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses reverse this routing.

Buses operating along the revised 13 West Oaks Trails route introduce two-way, seven-days-a-week transit service along Culham and Oxford Streets, replacing the current one-way service that buses operating along the 27 White Oaks route provide. Buses operating along the revised route also serve the current 27 White Oaks stops seven days a week in both directions along Sixth Line between Culham and Leighland Streets, along Leighland Street and at Oakville Place.

Buses operating along the revised 13 West Oaks Trails route serve current 22 Upper Glen Abbey West stops along Bronte Road between Upper Middle Road West and the Halton Regional Centre seven days a week. Buses operating along the revised route also serve current 16 Speers and 22 Upper Glen Abbey West stops at the Halton Regional Centre and along Bronte Road between the Halton Centre and Wyecroft Road seven days a week.

Buses operating along the 5 Dundas route serve current northbound stops along Bronte Road between Richview Boulevard / West Oak Trails Boulevard and Dundas Street West seven days a week.

Buses operating along the 6 Upper Middle route serve current route 13 stops along Upper Middle Road East between Oxford Street and Trafalgar Road seven days a week.

Buses operating along the 1 Trafalgar route serve current route 13 stops along Trafalgar Road between Upper Middle Road East and White Oaks Boulevard and between Ceremonial Road and McCraney Street East seven days a week. Buses operating along the 19 River Oaks, 24 South Common Mall and 1 Trafalgar route serve current route 13 stops along Trafalgar Road between McCraney Street East and Ceremonial Road and between Leighland Street / Iroquois Shore Road and Cross Avenue seven days a week.

Saturday, September 5 is the last day that Oakville Transit buses serve current route 13 southbound stops along Bronte Road between Dundas Street West and Richview Boulevard / West Oak Trails Boulevard except for buses operating along high school special routes or all current route 13 stops along Fourth Line, Glen Valley Road, Highvalley Drive and Valleyridge Drive.

Oakville Transit is also increasing the hours of service and the frequency of service along the route.

Increasing service hours along current routes

15 Bridge

Starting Tuesday, September 8, buses operate more trips later Monday-to-Saturday evenings. Eastbound buses leave Hopedale Mall terminal at 9:57 and 10:57 p.m. Westbound buses leave Oakville GO Station at 9:25, 10:25 and 11:25 p.m.

21 Clearview

Starting Tuesday, September 8, buses operate more trips later Monday-to-Saturday evenings. Eastbound buses leave Oakville GO Station at 8:55, 9:55, 10:55 and 11:55 p.m. Westbound buses leave Maplegrove Village at 9:20, 10:20 and 11:20 p.m.

Oakville Transit is also 21 adjusting the schedule of the route.

26 Falgarwood

Starting Tuesday, September 8, buses operate more trips later Monday-to-Saturday evenings. Southbound buses leave Lancaster Road and Grosvenor Street at 9:37, 10:37 and 11:37 p.m. Northbound buses leave Oakville GO Station at 9:25, 10:25 and 11:25 p.m.

Oakville Transit is also decreasing the frequency of service on Saturdays.

28 Glen Abbey North

Starting Tuesday, September 8, buses operate every 20 minutes, instead of every 40 minutes from about 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. Buses also operate about every 40 minutes instead of every hour after 7 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Starting Saturday, September 12, buses operate every 40 minutes instead of every hour Saturdays.

14 Lakeshore West

Starting Saturday, September 12, Oakville Transit operates one more eastbound bus early Saturday mornings. The bus leaves Lakeside Village at 7:15 a.m. and arrives at the Oakville GO Station at 7:55 a.m. Saturdays.

Oakville Transit is also adjusting the Sunday schedule of the route.

11 Linbrook

Starting Tuesday, September 8, buses operate more trips later Monday-to-Saturday evenings. Eastbound buses leave Oakville GO Station at 9:25, 10:25 and 11:25 p.m. Westbound buses leave Maplegrove Village at 9:45 and 10:45 p.m.

Oakville Transit is also revising the route and decreasing service along the route.

13 West Oak Trails

Starting Sunday, September 6, Oakville Transit introduces service along the route on Sundays and holidays. Eastbound buses leave Bronte GO Station at 9:10 a.m. and then every hour until 7:10 p.m. Westbound buses leave Oakville GO Station at 8:25 a.m. and then every hour until 7:25 p.m.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, buses operate more trips later Monday-to-Saturday evenings. Eastbound buses leave Bronte GO Station at 10:10 and 11:10 p.m. Westbound buses leave Oakville GO Station at 9:25, 10:25 and 11:25 p.m.

Oakville Transit is also revising the route.


Decreasing service along current routes

18 Glen Abbey South

Starting Tuesday, September 8, Oakville Transit is decreasing the number of trips that buses operate along the route. During Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours buses leave Glen Abbey Gate and Third Line only at 6, 6:30, 7:20 and 8:10 a.m. They leave Oakville GO Station only at 7 and 7:50 a.m. During Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours, they leave Oakville GO only at 3:30, 4:10, 5:10 and 6:10 p.m. They leave Glen Abbey only at 3:50, 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.

26 Falgarwood

Starting Saturday, September 12, Oakville Transit is decreasing the frequency of service from every 30 minutes to every hour on Saturdays.

Oakville Transit is also increasing the hours of service Monday-to-Friday evenings.

11 Linwood

Starting Tuesday, September 8, Oakville Transit is decreasing the frequency of service from about 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. and after 7 p.m. Mondays-to-Fridays and all day Saturdays. Buses operate every hour instead of every 30 minutes.

24 South Common Mall

Starting Tuesday, September 8, Oakville Transit is cancelling two Monday-to-Friday early-morning trips. Buses no longer leave Oakville GO Station at 5:50 and 6:25 a.m. to arrive at Sheridan College at 6 and 6:35 a.m. Buses operating along the new 1 Trafalgar route replace this service. OT is, however, still operating the two early-morning return trips, leaving Sheridan at 6:05 and 6:35 a.m. and returning to Oakville GO at 6:20 and 6:50 a.m.

Oakville Transit is also adjusting the schedule of the route.


Resuming extra service to high schools

81N Abbey Park North high school special

Starting Tuesday, September 8, a bus leaves Abbey Park Secondary School at 3 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and proceeds:

westward along Glen Abbey Gate;
northward along Third Line;
eastward along Upper Middle Road West;
northward along Fourth Line;
westward along West Oak Trails Boulevard;
northward along Proudfoot Trail;
westward along Pine Glen Road;
southward along Postmaster Drive;
westward along West Oak Trails Boulevard;
southward along Grand Oak Trail;
westward along Upper Middle West;
northward along Bronte Road;
westward along Richview Boulevard;
northward along Colonel William Parkway; and then
eastward along Dundas Street West to Bronte,
arriving at 3:18 p.m. and ending its trip.

81S Abbey Park / Loyola South high school special

Starting Tuesday, September 8, a bus leaves Nottinghill Gate / Fourth Line at Old Abbey Lane at 7:25 a.m., then proceeds:

north- and westward along Nottinghill;
south- and westward along Pilgrim’s Way;
westward along Abbeywood Drive;
northward along Third Line;
eastward along Upper Middle Road West;
southward along Nottinghill Gate, stopping at Loyola Catholic Secondary School at 7:32 a.m.;
west- and southward along Pilgrim’s; and then
westward along Glen Abbey Gate to Abbey Park Secondary School,
arriving at 7:35 a.m. and ending its trip.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, a bus leaves Abbey Park Secondary School at 3 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, then proceeds:

westward along Glen Abbey Gate;
northward along Third Line;
eastward along Upper Middle Road West;
southward along Nottinghill Gate, stopping at Loyola Catholic Secondary School at 3:05 p.m.;
eastward along Monastery Drive;
south- and eastward along Dorval Drive;
south- and westward along Old Abbey Lane;
southward along Fourth Line; and then
eastward along North Service Road to Dorval Drive,
arriving at 3:14 p.m. and ending its trip.

80 Holy Trinity high school special

Starting Tuesday, September 8, a bus leaves Upper Middle Road East and Golden Briar Trail at 7:50 a.m. Mondays to Fridays and proceeds:

southward along Eighth Line;
eastward along Grand Boulevard;
north- and eastward along Lancaster Drive;
northward along Grosvenor Street;

Starting Tuesday, September 8, a bus leaves Richview Boulevard, just west of Bronte Road, at 7:25 a.m. Mondays to Fridays, then proceeds:

eastward along Dundas Street West;
southward along Bronte;
eastward along Upper Middle Road West;
northward along Grand Oak Trail;

westward along Kingsway Drive;
south- and eastward along Wynten;
southward along Gable Drive;

Starting Tuesday, September 8 a bus leaves Oakville Trafalgar High School at 2:50 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, then proceeds:

The route replaces the current White Oaks high school special route.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, a bus leaves White Oaks Secondary School at 2:50 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and proceeds:

Westward along McCraney Street East;
northward along Sixth Line;
westward along Upper Middle Road East;
northward along Oakmead Boulevard;
westward along River Oaks Boulevard;
northward along Sixth Line;
westward along Munn’s Avenue;
northward along Neyagawa Boulevard;
westward along River Oaks;
northward along McDowell Avenue;
westward along Towne Boulevard;
northward along Mowat Avenue;
westward along River Glen Boulevard;
northward along Neyagawa;
eastward along Dundas Street East;
southward along Towne;
eastward along River Glen and Glenashton Drive;

westward along Oak Glen Boulevard; and then

Adjusting the schedule of a current route

24 South Common Mall

Starting Tuesday, September 8, Oakville Transit is adjusting the schedule for buses operating along the route after 7 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.

Southbound buses leave South Common Mall Terminal at 7:10, 7:40, 8:40, 9:40, 10:40 and 11:40 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.

Northbound buses leave Oakville GO Station at 7:55, 8:55, 9:55 and 10:55 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.


Maintaining current routes without changes
