Part 1 -- Details of Oakville Transit service changes



Oakville Transit is extensively revising its routes and services today, Sunday, September 6.

Oakville Transit is introducing new grid routes, introducing new local routes, canceling current routes; cancellng former extra service to high schools; revising current routes, increasing the hours of service along current routes, decreasing the frequency of service along current routes, introducing new extra service to high schools; adjusting the schedules of current routes; and maintaining some current routes without changes.


Oakville Transit is changing most of its routes:

Introducing new grid routes

5 Dundas

Starting Sunday, September 6, eastbound buses start their trips at Dundas Street West and Colonel Williams Parkway in the village of Palermo, then proceed:

southward along Colonel Williams;
eastward along Richview Boulevard;
northward along Bronte Road (Halton Regional Road 25 / The Veterans’ Highway);
eastward along Dundas Streets West and East (Halton Regional Road 5);
southward along Oak Park Boulevard; and then
eastward along Oak Walk Drive to the Uptown Core Terminal,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses start their trips at the Uptown Core Terminal, then proceed:

westward along Oak Walk Drive;
northward along Oak Park Boulevard;
westward along Dundas Streets East and West (Halton Regional Road 5) to Colonel Williams Parkway;
ending their trips.

Starting Sunday, September 6, eastbound buses leave Palermo every 40 minutes from 8:19 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Sundays and holidays. Westbound buses leave the Uptown Core every 40 minutes from 8:05 a.m. until 7:25 p.m. Sundays and holidays.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, eastbound buses leave Palermo every 20 minutes from 6:19 until 8:39 a.m. and from 4:39 until 6:59 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. They leave Palermo every 40 minutes from 8:39 a.m. until 4:39 p.m. and from 6:59 a.m. until 11:39 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Westbound buses leave the Uptown Core every 20 minutes from 6:45 until 8:45 a.m. and from 5:05 until 7:25 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. They leave the Uptown Core every 40 minutes from 8:45 a.m. until 5:05 p.m. and from 7:25 p.m. until 11:25 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Starting Saturday, September 12, eastbound buses leave Palermo every 40 minutes from 7:39 a.m. until 11:39 p.m. Saturdays. Westbound buses leave the Uptown Core every 40 minutes from 8:05 a.m. until 11:25 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Starting Sunday, September 6, buses operating along the 5 Dundas route introduce new transit service along Dundas Streets West and East between Colonel Willam Parkway and Oak Park Boulevard and along Colonel William Parkway, Oak Walk Drive and Richview Boulevard seven days a week. They also serve a current 200 Northridge and 29 Uptown Core stop along Oak Park Boulevard seven days a week. They serve current 13 West Oak Trails northbound stops along Bronte Road between Dundas Street West and Richview Boulevard / West Oak Trails Boulevard seven days a week.

2 Lakeshore

Starting Sunday, September 6, eastbound buses start their trips at Bronte GO Station, then proceed:

westward along Wyecroft Road;
southward along Bronte Road;
eastward along Lakeshore Roads West and East; and then
northward along Ford Drive to Kingsway Drive,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses reverse this routing.

Starting Sunday, September 6, eastbound buses leave Bronte GO every 40 minutes from 8:36 a.m. until 7:16 p.m. Sundays and holidays. Westbound buses leave Ford and Kingsway Drives every 40 minutes from 9:16 a.m. until 7:56 p.m.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, eastbound buses leave Bronte GO Station every 20 minutes from 6:16 until 8:36 a.m. and from 3:56 until 6:56 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. They leave Bronte GO every 40 minutes from 8:36 a.m. until 3:56 p.m. and from 6:56 until 10:56 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Westbound buses leave Ford and Kingsway every 20 minutes from 6:36 until 9:16 a.m. and from 3:16 until 7:16 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. They leave Ford and Kingsway every 40 minutes from 9:16 a.m. until 3:16 p.m. and from 7:16 until 11:16 p.m.

Starting Saturday, September 12, eastbound buses leave Bronte GO every 40 minutes from 7:56 a.m. until 10:36 p.m. Westbound buses leave Ford and Kingsway Drives every 40 minutes from 7:56 a.m. until 11:16 p.m.

Oakville Transit interlines buses operating on the 2 Lakeshore route with buses operating on the 6 Upper Middle route. Eastbound buses arriving at Ford and Kingsway Drives continue along the westbound 6 route. Westbound buses arriving at Bronte GO Station continue along the eastbound 6 route. Each bus circles the town along the two routes once about every 80 minutes.

Starting Sunday, September 6 buses operating along the new 2 Lakeshore route introduce transit service along Ford Drive between Cornwall Road and Lakeshore Road East and between Kingway and Sheridan Garden Drives and introduce transit service along Bronte Road between Lakeshore Road and Hixon Street seven days a week. They serve current 17 Kerr - Eastlake stops along Lakeshore Road East between Reynolds Street and Ford Drive seven days a week. They serve current 15 Bridge stops along Bronte Road between Rebecca and Waterford Streets seven days a week. They serve current 12 Bronte GO stops along Bronte between Hixon and Rebecca Streets seven days a week. They serve current 16 Speers stops along Bronte between Wyecroft Road and Rebecca Streets seven days a week.

4 Speers / Cornwall

Starting Sunday, September 6, Oakville Transit operates buses along this new grid route, replacing local service along the 16 Speers route.

Eastbound buses start their trips at Bronte GO Station, then proceed:

eastward along Wyecroft Road;
southward along Third Line;
eastward along Speers and Cornwall Roads;
north- and eastward along Cross Avenue;
through the Oakville GO Station bus terminal; then
eastward along Cross Avenue;
southward along Trafalgar Road;
eastward along Cornwall Road;
northward along Ford Drive;
eastward along Royal Windsor Drive;
northward along Southdown Road; and then
westward into Clarkson GO Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses reverse this routing.

Starting Sunday, September 6, eastbound buses leave Bronte GO Station every 40 minutes from 8:20 a.m. until 7:40 p.m. Sundays and holidays. Westbound buses leave Clarkson GO Station every 40 minutes from 9 a.m. until 7:40 p.m. Sundays and holidays.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, eastbound buses leave Bronte GO every 20 minutes from6 until 8:20 a.m. and from 3:40 until 6:20 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. They leave Bronte GO every 40 minutes from 8:20 a.m. until 3:40 p.m. and from 6:20 until 11 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Westbound buses leave Clarkson GO every 20 minutes from 6:40 until 9 a.m. and from 4:20 until 6:20 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. They leave Clarkson GO every 40 minutes from 9 a.m. until 4:20 p.m. and from 6:20 until 11:40 p.m.

Starting Saturday, September 12, eastbound buses leave Bronte GO every 40 minutes from 7:40 a.m. until 10:20 p.m. Saturdays. Westbound buses leave Clarkson GO every 40 minutes from 8:20 a.m. until 11 p.m. Saturdays.

Starting Sunday, September 6, buses operating along the new 4 Speers / Cornwall route introduce new transit service along Cornwall Road between Reynolds Street and Maplegrove Drive and serve current route 16 Speers stops on Speers Road between Third Line and Cross Avenue seven days a week.

3 Third Line

Starting Sunday, September 6, southbound buses start their trips at Third Line and Dundas Street West, then proceed:

eastward along Dundas West;
southward along Proudfoot Trail;
westward along Pine Glen Road;
southward along Third Line;
westward along Wyecroft Road;
southward into Bronte GO Station bus terminal; then
eastward along Wyecroft Road;
southward along Third Line;
eastward along Rebecca Street; and then
northward into Hopedale Mall terminal,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses start their trips at Hopedale Mall terminal, then proceed:

westward along Rebecca Street;
northward along Third Line;
westward along Wyecroft Road;
southward into Bronte GO Station terminal; and then
northward along Third Line to Dundas Street East,
ending their trips.

Starting Sunday, September 6, buses operating along the new 3 Third Line route introduce transit service along Third Line between West Oak Village and Merchants’ Gate and along Proudfoot Trail between Dundas Street West and Pine Glen Road seven days a week. The buses also serve current 23 Heritage Way stops on Third Line between Merchants’ Gate and Wyecroft Road, current 12 Bronte GO and 22 Upper Glen Abbey West stops on Third between Wyecroft and Rebecca Street, current 15 Bridge stops on Third between Bridge Road and Rebecca Street and current 16 Speers stops on Third between Speers Road and Rebecca seven days a week.

1 Trafalgar

Starting Sunday, September 6, Oakville Transit operates buses along this new grid route, replacing local service along the 29 Uptown Core and other routes.

Southbound buses leave the Uptown Core Terminal and proceed:

southward along Taunton Road;
eastward along Oak Park Boulevard;
southward along Trafalgar Road;
westward along Ceremonial Road to the Sheridan College Terminal;
eastward along Ceremonial;
southward along Trafalgar;
westward along Cross Avenue; and then
southward into the Oakville GO Station terminal,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses reverse this routing.

Starting Sunday, September 6, southbound buses leave the Uptown Core Terminal at 8:05 a.m. and then every 40 minutes from 8:45 a.m. until 7:25 p.m. Sundays and holidays. Northbound buses leave Oakville GO Station every 40 minutes from 8:25 a.m. until 7:45 p.m. Sundays and holidays.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, southbound buses leave the Uptown Core every 20 minutes from 6:25 a.m. until 7:45 p.m. Mondays to Friday. They leave Uptown every 40 minutes from 7:45 until 11:45 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Northbound buses leave Oakville GO Station every 20 minutes from 6:25 a.m. until 7:25 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. They leave the GO Station every 40 minutes from 8:05 until 11:25 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Starting Saturday, September 12, southbound buses leave Uptown every 40 minutes from 7:25 a.m. until 11:25 p.m. Saturdays. Northbound buses leave Oakville GO every 40 minutes from 7:05 a.m. until 11:05 p.m. Saturdays.

Starting Sunday, September 5, buses operating along the new 1 Trafalgar route serve current 30 Crosstown, 20 Iroquois Ridge, 200 Northridge and 29 Uptown Core stops on Taunton Road and on Oak Park Boulevard between Taunton and Trafalgar Roads seven days a week.

They serve current 30 Crosstown stops on Trafalgar Road between Oak Park Boulevard / Postridge Drive and Upper Middle Road East seven days a week. They serve current 20 Iroquois Ridge stops between Oak Park Boulevard and Glenashton Drive and between Upper Middle Road West and Cross Avenue seven days a week. They serve current 200 Northridge stops along Trafalgar between Iroquois Shore Road and Cross Avenue seven days a week. They serve current 29 Uptown Core stops along Trafalgar between Oak Park Boulevard and Cross Avenue seven days a week. 6 Upper Middle

Starting Sunday, September 6, Oakville Transit operates buses along this new grid route, replacing current local service along the 30 Crosstown and other routes.

Eastbound buses start their trips at Bronte GO Station, then proceed:

westward along Wyecroft Road;
northward along Bronte Road;
eastward along Upper Middle Roads West and East; and then
southward along Ford Drive to Kingsway Drive,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses start their trips at Ford and Kingsway Drives, then proceed:

northward along Ford;
westward along Upper Middle Roads East and West;
southward along Bronte Road;
eastward along Wyecroft Road; and then
southward into Bronte GO Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Starting Sunday, September 6, eastbound buses leave Bronte GO Station every 40 minutes from 8:46 a.m. until 7:26 p.m. Sundays and holidays. Westbound buses leave Ford and Kingsway Drives every 40 minutes from 8:33 a.m. until 7:53 p.m. Sundays and holidays.

Oakville Transit interlines buses operating on the 6 Upper Middle route with buses operating on the 2 Lakeshore route. Eastbound buses arriving at Ford and Kingsway Drives continue along the westbound 2 route. Westbound buses arriving at Bronte GO Station continue along the eastbound 2 route. Each bus circles the town along the two routes once about every 80 minutes.

Starting Sunday, September 6 buses operating along the new route serve introduce new transit service along Upper Middle Road West between Grand Oak Trail and Postmaster Drive and along Ford Drive between Upper Middle Road East and Kingsway Drive.

They also serve current 30 Crosstown stops along Upper Middle Roads East and West between Third Line and Trafalgar Road seven days a week. 31 Bridge - Great Lakes

Starting Tuesday, September 8, Oakville Transit buses operating along this route, replacing the western part of the current 31 Lakeshore Woods route.

Southbound buses start their trips at Bronte GO Station bus terminal, then proceed:

eastbound along Wyecroft Road;
southbound along Third Line;
westbound along Bridge Road;
southbound along Bronte Road;
westbound along Rebecca Street;
southward along Burloak Drive; and then
eastward along Lakeshore Road West to Great Lakes Boulevard,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses start their trips at Lakeshore Road West and Great Lakes Boulevard, then proceed:

northward along Great Lakes;
eastward along Rebecca Street;

Starting Tuesday, September 8, buses operating along the new 31 Bridge - Great Lakes route serve current 31 Lakeshore Woods stops along Burloak Drive, Great Lakes Boulevard, Lakeshore Road West and Rebecca Street.

17 Kerr

Starting Sunday, September 6, Oakville Transit buses operate along this new route, replacing the northern part of the current 17 Kerr - Eastlake route seven days a week.

Southbound buses start their trips at Oakville GO Station, then proceed:

westward along Cross Avenue and Speers Road;
southward along Kerr Street;
eastward along Bond Street;
southward along Chisholm Street;
eastward along Rebecca Street;
southward along Navy Street; and then
eastward along Church Street to the Downtown Transit Terminal, just west of Dunn Street,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses start their trips at the Downtown Transit Terminal, then proceed:

eastward along Church Street;
northward along Trafalgar Road;
westward along Randall and Rebecca Streets;
northward along Forsythe Street;
westward along Bond Street;
northward along Kerr Street;
eastward along Speers Road and Cross Avenue; and then
southward into the Oakville GO Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Starting Sunday, September 6, southbound buses leave Oakville GO Station every hour from 8:55 a.m. until 6:55 p.m. Sundays and holidays. Northbound buses leave Church and Dunn Streets every hour from 9:10 a.m. until 7:10 p.m. Sundays and holidays.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, southbound buses leave Oakville GO every 30 minutes from 6:25 a.m. until 7:55 p.m. and every hour from 7:55 until 11:55 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. They leave Church and Dunn every 30 minutes from 6:10 a.m. until 8:10 p.m. and every hour from 8:10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays until 12:10 a.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays.

Buses operating along the new 17 Kerr route serve current 17 Kerr - Eastlake stops along Bond Street, Church Street, Cross Avenue, Forsythe Street, Kerr Street, Randall Street, Rebecca Street and Speers Road.

20 Northridge

Starting Sunday, September 6, Oakville Transit operates buses along this new route replacing parts of the current 20 Iroquois Ridge and 200 Northridge routes.

Southbound buses start their trips at the Uptown Core Terminal, then proceed:

southward along Taunton Road;
west- and northward along Oak Park Boulevard;
eastward along Dundas Street East; and then
southward along Postridge Drive;
east- and southward along North Ridge Trail;
westward along Glenashton Drive;
southward along Eighth Line;
westward along Iroquois Shore Road;
southward along Trafalgar Road;
westward along Cross Avenue; and then
southward into the Oakville GO Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses reverse this routing.

Southbound buses operate along this routing Mondays to Fridays from about 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. and after 7 p.m. and all day Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

During Monday-to-Friday rush hours, however, southbound buses operate along a different routing:

Buses start their trips at the Uptown Core terminal, then proceed:

southward along Taunton Road; eastward along Oak Park Boulevard and Postridge Drive to North Ridge Trail, resuming their regular route east- and southward along North Ridge.

Northbound buses operate along the same route at all times.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, southbound buses leave the Uptown Core at 6:03, 6:28, 6:58, 7:08 and 7:48 a.m., every 30 minutes from 8:25 a.m. until 4:55 p.m., 5:30, 5:45, 6:10, 6:30, 6:50, 7:10 p.m. and every hour from 7:55 until 10:55 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Northbound buses leave Oakville GO at 6:10, 6:40, 6:50, 7:30 a.m., every 30 minutes from 6:55 a.m. until 4:25 p.m., 5:05, 5:20, 5:50, 6:10, 6:30, 6:50 p.m. and every hour from 7:25 until 11:25 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Starting Saturday, September 12, southbound buses leave the Uptown Core every hour from 6:55 a.m. until 10:55 p.m. Saturdays. Northbound buses leave Oakville GO every hour from 7:25 a.m. until 10:25 p.m. Saturdays.

22 Upper Glen Abbey

Starting Tuesday, September 8, Oakville Transit buses operate along this new route, replacing the current 22 Upper Glen Abbey West route Mondays to Saturdays. The new route offers passengers traveling to and from the Upper Glen Abbey area a more direct route to Bronte GO Station along Third Line instead of Bronte Road.

Southbound buses start their trips at Pine Glen Road and Proudfoot Trail, then proceed:

southward along Proudfoot;
westward along West Oak Trails Boulevard;
southward along Postmaster Drive;
west-, south-, east- and northward along Heritage Way;
eastward along Merchants’ Gate;
southward along Third Line;
eastward along Wyecroft Road; and then
southward into Bronte GO Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses start their trips at the Bronte GO Station bus terminal, then proceed:

eastwardalong Wyecroft Road;
northward along Third Line;
westward along Merchants’ Gate;
south-, west-, north- and eastward along Heritage Way;
northward along Postmaster Drive; and then
westward along Pine Glen Road to Proudfoot Trail,
ending their trips.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, southbound buses leave Pine Glen Road and Proudfoot Trail every 20 minutes from 6 until 8:40 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. Northbound buses leave Bronte GO Station at 6:50 a.m. and then every 20 minutes from 7:20 until 8:20 a.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Southbound buses leave Pine Glen and Proudfoot about every 40 minutes from 8:40 a.m. until 11:20 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. Northbound buses leave Bronte GO about every 40 minutes from 8:20 a.m. until 11 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Starting Saturday, September 12, southbound buses leave Pine Glen and Proudfoot every 40 minutes from 7:20 a.m. until 11:40 p.m. Saturdays. Northbound buses leave Bronte GO every 40 minutes from 7:40 a.m. until 11 p.m. Saturdays.

Starting Tuesday, September 8 buses operating along the new 22 Upper Glen Abbey route introduce transit service along Postmaster Drive between West Oak Trails Boulevard and Heritage Way.

They also serve current 23 Heritage Way stops along Heritage Way, Merchants’ Gate and Bronte Road between Merchants’ Gate and Wyecroft Road. They serve current 22 Upper Glen Abbey West buses stops on Postmaster Drive between Pine Glen Road and Upper Middle Road West, Pine Glen Road and Proudfoot Trail.

A transit agency often interlines two or more routes with a common terminal to save resources — drivers and vehicles. In this case, a bus that leaves Bronte GO Station along the 2 Lakeshore route continues along the 6 Upper Middle route after it reaches Ford and Kingsway Drives.
