MiWay revises routes and services, May 1



MiWay has announced its upcoming service changes starting next Monday, May 1 and it’s mostly delivering good news to transit passengers.

First, it opens two more Transitway stations — Spectrum and Orbitor, bringing the number of stations in service along the bus-only route across the middle of Mississauga to 11. The final station (for now), Renforth Gateway opens this fall.

For the first time, MiWay is offering Sunday service along two important crosstown routes — the 35 Eglinton MiLocal route and the 103 Hurontario MiExpress route.

It’s also improving or offering more frequent weekend service along these routes:

  • 103 Hurontario express

Saturdays and

  • 22 Finch;
  • 42 Derry;
  • 61 Mavis

Sundays.

Finally, with the end of the winter term at Humber and Sheridan Colleges and the University of Toronto, it’s decreasing service along several routes during the spring and summer, when fewer passengers travel to and from the campuses:

  • 66 McLaughlin,
  • 101A Dundas express;
  • 107 Malton express and
  • 110 University express.

MiWay is revising service along these MiLocal routes: 1 Dundas; 3 Bloor; 7 Airport; 8 Cawthra; 9 Thomas - Rathburn; 10 Bristol - Britannia; 11 Westwood; 14 Lorne Park; 20 Rathburn; 22 Finch; 24 Northwest; 34 Credit Valley; 35 Eglinton; 42 Derry; 44 Mississauga Road; 45 / 45A Winston Churchill; 46 Tenth Line / Osprey; 48 Erin Mills; 49A McDowell - Streetsville GO Station; 51 Tomken; 61 Mavis; 66 McLaughlin; 68 Windsor Hill; 91 Hillcrest - Cooksville GO Station.

It’s revising service along these MiExpress routes: 101 / 101A Dundas; 103 Hurontario; 107 Malton; 108 Meadowvale Business; 109 Meadowvale; and 110 University.

And, it’s revising service along these high school special routes: 306 Streetsville Secondary - Terry Fox; 309 St. Joseph - Rathburn; 321 Stephen Lewis - St. Joan of Arc.


Specifically, MiWay is: increasing service along routes; decreasing service along routes; increasing the frequency of service along routes; decreasing the frequency of service along routes; revising the paths for buses operating along routes; revising services to and from colleges and universities; revising services to and from high schools; adjusting the schedules for buses operating along routes; and making other changes to services along routes.


Increasing service along routes


10 Bristol - Britannia

Starting Monday, May 1, MiWay revises the path for buses operating along the route.

Westbound buses pick up passengers at new stops

  • in City Centre Terminal at Platform J and
  • on Rathburn Road West at City Centre Drive.

MiWay is also adjusting the schedules for buses operating along the route and making other changes to service along the route.

34 Credit Valley

Starting Sunday, May 1, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a new stop

  • on Eglinton Avenue West across from Erin Mills Town Centre South (Buses operating along the 34 Eglinton route also serve the stop).

MiWay is installing the new stop due to a new traffic signal at the intersection.

35 Eglinton

MiWay operates three more buses along the route to introduce new Sunday-and-holiday service.

Starting Sunday, May 7, buses drop off or pick up passengers at all route 35 stops:

every 45 minutes Sundays and holidays from about 7 a.m. until 11 p.m.

Starting Sunday, May 1, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a new stop

  • on Eglinton Avenue West across from Erin Mills Town Centre South (Buses operating along the 34 Credit Valley route also serve the stop).

MiWay is installing the new stop due to a new traffic signal at the intersection.

103 Hurontario express

MiWay operates four more buses along the route to introduce new Sunday-and-holiday service from about 8 a.m. and 10:30 p.m..

Starting Sunday, May 7, buses drop off or pick up passengers at all stops along the route:

  • every 21 minutes Sunday-and-holiday mornings;
  • every 24 minutes midday - from about 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.; and
  • every 25 minutes evenings - after about 5 p.m.

MiWay is also increasing the frequency of service along the route.

107 Malton express

Starting Monday, May 1, MiWay extends the path for buses operating along the route further eastward along the Mississauga Transitway.

Southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops

  • on Commerce Boulevard at Skymark Avenue (Buses operating along the 7 Airport, 24 **Northwest and 35 Eglinton routes no longer serve the stop) and
  • in Orbitor and Spectrum Transitway stations.

Northbound buses serve passengers at new stops

  • in Spectrum and Orbitor Transitway stations and
  • on Commerce Boulevard across from Skymark Avenue.

MiWay is also decreasing service along part of the route.

109 Meadowvale express

Starting Monday, May 1, MiWay extends the path for buses operating along the route further eastward along the Mississauga Transitway.

Southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops

  • in Spectrum and Orbitor Transitway stations and
  • on Commerce Boulevard across from Skymark Avenue.

Northbound buses serve passengers at new stops

  • on Commerce Boulevard at Skymark Avenue (Buses operating along the 7 Airport, 24 **Northwest and 35 Eglinton routes no longer serve the stop) and
  • in Orbitor and Spectrum Transitway stations.
46 Tenth Line - Osprey

Starting Monday, May 1, MiWay’s increasing service by operating a bus on an extra trip along the route Mondays to Fridays.

The northbound bus leaves Trelawney Circle across from Bishop Strachan Court at 3:15 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. (The stop is beside Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Secondary School.) It ends its trip in Meadowvale Town Centre terminal at 3:20 p.m.

MiWay is also making another change to service along the route.


Decreasing service along routes


10 Bristol - Britannia

Starting Monday, May 1, MiWay revises the path for buses operating along the route.

Buses no longer drop off passengers in City Centre Terminal Platform O - on Rathburn Road West west of Station Gate Road, across from the terminal.

MiWay is also adjusting the schedules for buses operating along the route and making other changes to service along the route.

1 Dundas

Saturday, April 29 is the last day that MiWay operates short-turn buses betwen Hurontario Street and Wharton Way Saturdays.

35 Eglinton

Saturday, April 29 is the last day that southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers on Commerce Boulevard at Skymark Avenue.

Instead, starting Monday, May 1, southbound buses serve passengers at Skymark Hub - on Skymark west of Commerce.

Also starting Monday, May 1, MiExpress buses operating along the 107 Malton and 109 Meadowvale routes serve the stop on Commerce at Skymark.

MiWay is also increasing service along the route.

22 Finch

Sunday, April 30 is the last day that any MiWay buses drop off or pick up passengers at the stop

  • on Humber College Boulevard south of Finch Avenue West

in the North Etobicoke area of Toronto.

MiWay is also increasing the frequency of service along the route and adjusting the schedules for buses operating along the route.

107 Malton express

Friday, April 29 is the last day until September that MiWay operates MiExpress buses along the route to and from Humber College Terminal.

Starting Monday, May 1, all buses start and end their trips in Westwood Mall terminal. Passengers travelling between Humber College and Westwood may board, instead, buses operating along the 22 Finch route.

Buses no longer drop off passengers at this stop:

  • in Humber College Terminal.

Spring / summer service ends and regular service resumes Tuesday, September 5.

MiWay is also revising the path for buses operating along another part of the route.

Starting Monday, May 1, southbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at stops:

Saturday, April 29 is the last day that southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers on Commerce Boulevard at Skymark Avenue.

Instead, starting Monday, May 1, southbound buses serve passengers at Skymark Hub - on Skymark west of Commerce.

Also starting Monday, May 1, MiExpress buses operating along the 107 Malton and 109 Meadowvale routes serve the stop on Commerce at Skymark.

110 University express

Friday, April 29 is the last day until September that MiWay operated buses on short trips along the route between the University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus and City Centre Terminal Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

Starting Monday, May 1, buses drop off or pick up passengers east of the campus during spring and summer:

  • every 15 to 17 minutes, instead of every 7½ minutes, Mondays to Fridays from about 8 until 9 a.m. and from about 3 until 8 p.m.

(During spring and summer, short-turn buses operate only from about 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., instead of from about 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.)

Spring / summer service ends and regular service resumes Tuesday, September 5.


Increasing the frequency of service along routes


42 Derry

MiWay operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency of service along the route Monday-to-Friday evenings and all day Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Starting Monday, May 1, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 27 minutes, instead of every 35 minutes, Mondays to Fridays after about 7 p.m.

Starting Saturday, May 6, serve passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 27 minutes, instead of every 36 minutes, Saturdays.

Starting Sunday, May 7, buses serve passengers at stops along the entire route:

  • every 36 minutes, instead of every 45 minutes.
22 Finch

MiWay operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency of service Sundays.

Starting Sunday, May 7, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 36 minutes, instead of every 45 minutes.

MiWay is also decreasing service along the route and adjusting the schedules for buses operating along the route.

103 Hurontario express

MiWay operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency of service Saturdays.

Starting Saturday, May 6, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 20 minutes, instead of every 25 minutes, Saturdays.

MiWay is also increasing service along the route.

61 Mavis

MiWay operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency of service Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Starting Saturday, May 6, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops:

  • every 20 minutes, instead of every 27 minutes, Saturdays.

Starting Sunday, May 7, buses serve passengers at stops:

  • every 26 minutes, instead of every 34 to 38 minutes.

MiWay is also making another change to service along the route.

11 Westwood

MiWay operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency of service along the route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Starting Saturday, May 6, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops:

  • every 44 minutes, instead of every 72 minutes, north and west of Derry Road West / Rexwood Road**; and
  • every 22 minutes, instead of every 36 minutes, south and east of Derry West / Rexwood**.

Starting Sunday, May 7, buses serve passengers at stops along the entire route:

  • every 20 to 22 minutes, instead of every 36 minutes.

Decreasing the frequency of service along routes


101 /101A Dundas express

MiWay operates less frequent service along the route Monday-to-Friday midday during spring and summer.

Starting Monday, May 1, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along route:

  • every 15 minutes, instead of every 12 minutes, Mondays to Fridays from about 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

MiWay is revising the path and temporarily cancelling service to and from the University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus Mondays to Fridays along the 101A branch of the route during spring and summer. By cancelling service along the branch, it’s also decreasing the frequency of service at the stop on campus.

Starting Monday, May 1, buses drop off or pick up passengers at the stop on Inner Circle Road beside the Kaneff Centre:

  • every 20 minutes, instead of every 10 minutes, Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.
66 McLaughlin

MiWay operates less frequent service along the route Mondays to Fridays until about 8 p.m. during spring and summer.

Starting Monday, May 1, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 15 minutes, instead of every 12 minutes, Mondays to Fridays during morning rush hours;
  • every 16 minutes, instead of every 13 minutes, from about 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.; and
  • every 13 minutes, instead of every 10½ minutes, during afternoon rush hours.

10 Bristol - Britannia

Starting Monday, May 1, MiWay revises the path for buses operating along the route.

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Rathburn Road West across from City Centre Terminal, then proceed:

through the terminal to Platform J,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses no longer drop off passengers in City Centre Terminal Platform O - on Rathburn Road West west of Station Gate Road, across from the terminal.

Westbound buses start their trips at Platform J in City Centre Terminal, then proceed:

eastward along Rathburn Road West to Centre View Drive / City Centre Drive,
resuming their regular route southward along City Centre.

Westbound buses no longer pick up passengers in City Centre Terminal Platform O - on Rathburn Road West west of Station Gate Road, across from the terminal.

Instead, westbound buses pick up passengers at new stops

  • in City Centre Terminal at Platform J and
  • on Rathburn Road West at City Centre Drive.

101 Dundas express

Friday, April 29 is the last day until September that MiWay buses serving the 101A branch of the route drop off or pick up passengers at the University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus.

During spring and summer, buses remain on Dundas Street, instead of diverting to the campus along Mississauga Road.

Buses skip their regular stop:

  • on Inner Circle Road beside the Kaneff Centre on the University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus.

Spring / summer service ends and regular service resumes Tuesday, September 5.

MiWay is also decreasing the frequency of service along the route.

107 Malton express

MiWay revises the path so that buses operating along the route drop off or pick up passengers in Orbitor and Spectrum Stations on the Mississauga Transitway.

Starting Monday, May 1, southbound buses operate along their usual route to Matheson Boulevard East and Commerce Boulevard, then proceed:

southward along Commerce; and then
westward along the transitway to just east of Etobicoke Creek Station,
resuming their regular route westward along the transitway.

eastward along the transitway; and then
southward along Commerce Drive to Eglinton Avenue,
resuming their usual route eastward along Eglinton.

66 McLaughlin

Since fewer passengers travel to and from Sheridan College’s Davis and Hazel McCallion campuses during spring and summer, MiWay is decreasing the frequency of service along the route.

Spring / summer service ends and regular service resumes Tuesday, September 5.

110 University express

Since fewer passengers travel to and from the University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus and Sheridan College’s Hazel McCallion campus during spring and summer, MiWay is decreasing the number of short-turn buses operating along the route between U of T and City Centre Terminal.

Spring / summer service ends and regular service resumes Tuesday, September 5.

321 Stephen Lewis - St. Joan of Arc high school special

Starting Monday, May 1, MiWay adjusts the schedule for one of the morning buses operating along the route.

The bus leaves Artesian Drive west of Winston Churchill Boulevard at 8 a.m., instead of 7:57 a.m., Monday-to-Friday school days. It picks up passengers at all stops along the route three minutes later than usually. It ends its trip on Thomas Street east of Churchill Meadows Boulevard at 8:13 a.m.

306 Streetsville Secondary - Terry Fox high school special

Starting Monday, May 1, MiWay adjusts the schedule for the morning buses operating along the route.

The bus leaves Winterton Way west of Winston Churchill Boulevard at 7:30 a.m., instead of 7:33 a.m., Monday-to-Friday school days. It picks up passengers at all stops along the route three minutes earlier than usually. It ends its trip on Jaymar Drive across from Tannery Street at 7:47 a.m.

51 Tomken

Starting Monday, May 1, MiWay adjusts the schedules for buses operating along the route every day.

By adjusting the schedules, MiWay improves service for passengers connecting with buses operating along other routes.

68 Windsor Hill

Starting Monday, May 1, MiWay adjusts the schedules for buses operating along the route Mondays to Fridays and Saturdays.

Instead, starting Monday, May 1, southbound buses serve passengers at Skymark Hub - on Skymark west of Commerce.
