55 Senlac (1973-1985)

Coincident with the extension of the YONGE SUBWAY, service begins on a new route replacing a portion of the 59G branch (“Willowdale via Sheppard”) and the 59D branch (“Finch via Senlac”) of the 59 NORTH YONGE route. From the newly opened York Mills station, buses on 55 SENLAC operate via north on Yonge, west on Sheppard, north on Senlac, west on Finch, and north on Grantbrook to loop via Drewry, Cactus, Peckham, Goulding, Grantbrook and Finch, returning via the reverse route.

Buses operate out of Eglinton Garage, 7 days a week, 18 hours a day. The round trip is 8.6 miles. Rush hour headways are 4 minutes, 40 seconds (9 buses), midday and Saturday and Sunday buses are 20 minutes (2 buses) while a single bus provides 40 minute service late on Sunday night.

Last day of operation. The next day, service is replaced by a new route named 98 WILLOWDALE-SENLAC combining this service with 98 WILLOWDALE.
