As part of an initiative to simplify the branching structure of the 85 SHEPPARD EAST bus, service is launched on a new route to connect the Consumers Road industrial area with Sheppard station on the YONGE SUBWAY.

In the morning rush hour, buses operate eastbound from Sheppard station via Sheppard, Salehurst, Consumers Road and north on Victoria Park to Sheppard, where they end their official runs. In the afternoon, this service operates in reverse from Victoria Park and Sheppard to Sheppard station. Buses make the return journey (westbound in the mornings and eastbound in the afternoons) in service on the 10 VAN HORNE, effectively doubling VAN HORNE’s westbound (morning) and eastbound (afternoon) rush hour service. Service is initially provided using articulated buses operated out of Malvern garage.

During the midday, service on Consumers Road is provided by the 139B HUNTINGWOOD bus, allowing the TTC to retire the 85C SHEPPARD EAST branch.
