  • 134A Scarborough Centre Station - Finch via Tapscott
  • 134B Scarborough Centre Station - McNicoll via Tapscott

January 7, 2001

Service begins on a new route combining the operations of 134 TAPSCOTT and 171 PROGRESS EAST. The service is also rerouted from the old routes to provide better service in the area east of McCowan Road and north of Progress Avenue.

Buses on 134 PROGRESS operate from Scarborough Centre station on the SCARBOROUGH RT and proceed via east on Triton Road, north on McCowan Road, east and south on Consilium Place, east on Corporate Drive, south on Bellamy Road, east and north on Progress Drive, east on Sheppard, northeast on Washburn Way and north on Tapscott to Newgate. Until 3 p.m., buses loop clockwise via Newgate, Finchdene Square, Finch, Baldoon and Crowtrail to Tapscott. After 3 p.m., buses reverse this looping. Returning to Scarborough Centre, buses run west on Progress, then north on Bellamy Road, west on Corporate Drive, south on Consilium Place and Grangeway Avenue, west on Bushby Drive, north on McCowan Road, and west on Triton Road to Scarborough Centre Station. Service on this route operates during the daytime Mondays to Fridays and all day on Saturdays.

During Monday to Friday evenings and during the daytime on Sundays and holidays, service is cut back to Tapscott and Washburn Way. Buses on this 134A branch loop via east on Tapscott, north on Neilson and east on McLevin to Tapscott, returning over the reverse route.

Additional rush hour service is provided on the 134B branch, which follows the main route to Tapscott and Newgate, but continues up Tapscott to McNicoll, looping via west on McNicoll and north and east on Ironside to Tapscott. Southbound buses follow the main branch’s loop through Finchdene Square in the morning, but reverse this in the afternoon.

Finally, additional service is provided on the 134C branch following the main route from Scarborough Centre station to Progress Court, entering Progress Court and looping through the cul-de-sac in front of Centennial College. It operates service operates seven days a week, except late evenings on weekdays and Saturdays and early and late evenings on Sundays.

Service is rendered accessible using lift-equipped diesel-powered Orion V buses, although not all stops are deemed accessible.

October 16, 2005

New early evening service added to this route north to Finch Avenue, Mondays through Saturdays, and during the daytime Sundays and holidays. Buses operate every 20 minutes during the early evenings, Mondays through Saturdays, and 22 minutes, 30 seconds, Sundays and holidays. This change eliminates the 134A “McLevin” branch, since all buses run to Finch Avenue.

November 23, 2008

As part of the TTC’s ridership growth strategy, new service will be operated during the late evenings, weekdays and Saturdays, and all day Sundays and holidays from Scarborough Centre station to Finch. Service will operate every 30 minutes or better. Service continues to operate to McNicoll Avenue at limited times.

Early and late evening service Monday-Friday and late evening service on Saturdays and morning, afternoon, early evening and late evening service on Sundays interlined with 43B KENNEDY. These runs are operated out of Birchmount Garage while Malvern garage continues to operate the lion’s share of the service.

May 8, 2011

With late evening and Sunday service removed on the 43B KENNEDY, service on this route interlines with the 130 MIDDLEFIELD late Sunday evenings. All service now operates out of Malvern garage.

September 6, 2016

Service on the 134B branch is temporarily rerouted to deal with delays resulting from Canadian Pacific train operations blocking the railway crossing on Tapscott Road between McNicoll Avenue and Newgale Gate. Service is diverted in both directions via Finch Avenue East and Markham Road. Ten minutes of additional driving time is added, but without additional buses, headways are increased from 20 minutes 24 minutes. Four bus stops on Tapscott Road are temporarily removed from service.

September 4, 2018

As part of the TTC’s rebranding of its express services, certain trips on the 134C PROGRESS express between Scarborough Centre station and Centennial College are replaced by buses operating on the new 913 PROGRESS EXPRESS route. Northbound 134C buses are removed from the morning rush hour and southbound 134C buses are removed from the afternoon rush hour.

September 6, 2020

With the opening of the new terminal on Centennial College’s Progress campus, buses on the 134C branch are rerouting in a new path. In addition, a new 134D “Finch via Centennial College and Tapscott” branch is established. Buses operate along the 134D branch, with buses operating through the campus in both directions. Buses along the 134D branch replace service along the 134A (Finch - Scarborough Centre Station) branch Mondays to Fridays after about 10 p.m., Saturdays after about 7 p.m. and all day Sundays and holidays. Buses along the 134D branch supplement service along the 134C branch (Centennial College - Scarborough Centre Station) Mondays to Fridays from about 7 until 10 p.m. and Saturdays from about 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

March 26, 2023

As LINE 3 SCARBOROUGH is set to be decommissioned by that Fall, service on the 134C branch is replaced by the extension of the 985D SHEPPARD EAST EXPRESS to Centennial College operating on the same route. Other branches of the 134 PROGRESS will continue to operate but will not serve Scarborough Centre station due to the construction of the terminal. Instead, they will terminate at McCowan station and customers are advised to take the trains to Scarborough Centre station if they want to transfer.
