109 Ranee

January 28, 1978

Coincident with the opening of the SPADINA SUBWAY, service begins on 109 RANEE, a route serving the Lawrence Manor neighbourhood, replacing the B and C branches of 52 LAWRENCE. Buses operate from Lawrence West station on the SPADINA SUBWAY via east on Lawrence and north on Varna. There, the route divides, with half the service continuing north on Varna to Ranee, while the other half proceeds west and north along Flemington and east on Ranee to Varna. From the Ranee/Varna intersection, buses continue east on Ranee, north on Ameer and north and east on Neptune to Bathurst Street, looping via north on Bathurst and west on Hotspur to Neptune, returning via the reverse route.

Buses on the Flemington branch offer a connection with the SPADINA SUBWAY at the Ranee Avenue automatic entrance of Yorkdale station, although this is by token (and, later, Metropass) only. Buses operate Monday through Friday during the daytime. During evenings and on weekends, service is cut back to Ranee and Varna, operating in a large loop via Varna, Ranee and Flemington.
