Brampton Transit reopening customer-service counters, June 22

As part of the City of Brampton’s reopening and recovery plan, Brampton Transit is reopening customer-service counters in Bramalea, Brampton Gateway and Downtown terminals starting Monday, June 22. The Gateway on the GO retail stores and the washrooms are also open in the terminals.

Trinity Common Terminal building remains closed due to the lack of space for physical distancing.

Customer-service hours in each terminal are:

Bramalea Terminal:

  • Mondays to Fridays: 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.
  • Sundays: 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Brampton Gateway Terminal:

  • Mondays to Fridays: 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.
  • Sundays: 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Downtown Terminal:

  • Mondays to Fridays: 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

BT continues to encourage passengers to use a PRESTO card to safely and “contactlessly” pay fares. Passengers who still pay with cash can get a PRESTO card from the reopening customer-service counters in terminals. Starting June 22 BT is waiving the $6 PRESTO card fee for a limited time, one card per passenger.

As the customer-service counters reopen, the City and Brampton Transit are putting several safety measures in place.

  • Two-metre physical distancing: BT is asking passengers to remain two metres apart in line-ups for customer-service counters and will post signs to emphasize this measure.
  • Staff are available in terminals to support physical-distancing measures and inform passengers.
  • Each terminal will have dedicated doors for entry and exit, where possible.
  • Cleaning staff will sanitize customer-service counters and pin pads frequently.

According to a City of Brampton news release, “Providing accessible transit for seniors remains a top priority for the City, and given the impact of COVID-19, all active Brampton Transit senior ID card expiry dates have been waived indefinitely.”

Clark and Sandalwood facilities continue to remain closed to the public.

Brampton Transit is strongly recommending that riders wear non-medical masks on buses and at terminals. Wearing a non-medical mask will be mandatory for Brampton Transit riders and operators starting Thursday, July 2. BT will again start collecting fares and reinstate front-door boarding that day.

Brampton Transit closed customer-service counters Monday, April 27. It reduced the hours for accessing the terminals Monday, May 4.
