Less frequent Lakeshore East GO trains,
November 16, 17, 18

Metrolinx says it’s working on “critical upgrades to our network”, requiring GO Transit to significantly revise train service along the 09 Lakeshore East line this weekend and other weekends this fall.

Here’s what’s happening this weekend:

Friday, November 16

Hourly service starting with the eastbound train that leaves Union Station at 8:13 p.m. and the westbound train that leaves Oshawa GO Station at 7:38 p.m.

GO is cancelling the eastbound trains that usually leave Union at 43 minutes after the hour and the westbound trains that usually leave Oshawa at eight minutes past the hour.

Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18

Trains operate hourly both days. Eastbound trains leave Union at 13 minutes past the hour. They end their trips in Oshawa at eight minutes past the hour. Westbound trains leave Oshawa at 41 minutes past the hour. They end their trips in Union at 40 minutes past the hour.

GO is cancelling the trains that usually leave Union at 43 minutes past the hour and Oshawa at 11 minutes past the hour.

GO is also warning passengers to expect delays of as much as 15 minutes behind schedule all weekend.

Also, crews are replacing rack switches east of Whitby GO Station Saturday, November 17. The first westbound train from Oshawa leaves at 10:41 a.m. The first eastbound train to Oshawa leaves Union at 9:13 a.m. GO is providing shuttle-bus service between Whitby and Oshawa GO stations until full service resumes.

GO has already operated with less frequent service seven previous weekends this fall:
