Eglinton - Crosstown LRT -- Yonge / Eglinton:
TTC daytime detours start July 17

eglinton crosstown logo.pngMetrolinx contractors continue building the future Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line between Mount Dennis and Kennedy.

Starting Monday, July 17, to prepare for upcoming construction of Eglinton Station, Toronto Hydro crews are working on Duplex Avenue south of Eglinton Avenue West to re-route hydro services in the area. Part of the work affects TTC buses entering and exiting from Eglinton Station bus terminal.

“To maintain safe and timely TTC service and efficiently move 70,000 daily passengers,” the TTC says, it’s rerouting the buses that serve the Eglinton Avenue East corridor.

From 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. every day, it’s detouring buses operating along these routes:

  • 34 Eglinton East;
  • 54 Lawrence East;
  • 51 Leslie; and
  • 56 Leaside.

Most of these buses are already detouring to accommodate other work on the project.

Toronto Police Service officers and TTC personnel will be on site to help make sure buses and all traffic operate safely through the work zone.

The TTC isn’t detouring buses operating along the 5 Avenue Rd, 32 Eglinton West and 61 Avenue Rd North routes.

Buses resume regular service overnight from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. every day. They resume regular all-day service Saturday, August 5.

The City of Toronto is restricting on-street parking along the detour routing to help make sure that buses operate safely and efficiently during the three-week period.

It’s prohibiting parking on:

  • Broadway Avenue between Yonge Street and Redpath Avenue,
  • Redpath Avenue between Soudan and Broadway Avenues and
  • Soudan Avenue between Yonge Street and Redpath Avenue.
