Since Monday, January 8, the TTC and the City of Toronto have been working on a project to:
- renew the TTC tracks and overhead wiring on Lake Shore Boulevard West between Dwight Avenue (west of Royal York Road) and Humber Loop;
- renew the TTC tracks and overhead wiring on The Queensway between Humber Loop and Parkside Drive;
- rehabilitate The Queensway bridge over the Humber River; and
- improve Humber Loop, including
- installing new tracks, accessible streetcar platforms and new shelters;
- rebuilding the tunnel walkway;
- replacing the roof of the service building; and
- building a new electrical substation.
Since then, the TTC has replace streetcars with buses along the 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen routes west of Roncesvalles Avenue. It has also extended service along the 80 Queensway route to Keele Station at all times of the week, so that buses no longer operated through Humber Loop. However, buses operating along the 66A Prince Edward route have continued dropping off or picking up passengers in the loop.
Starting Monday, April 24, work in the loop has progressed to a state where the TTC must completely close the loop to all vehicles, so the TTC is now extending the path for buses along the 66 Prince Edward route.
Construction on Lake Shore Boulevard West, in Humber Loop and on The Queensway continues until December 31.
66A Prince Edward
Starting Monday, April 24, southbound buses operate along their regular route to The Queensway at the bus entrance to Humber Loop, then proceed:
eastward along The Queensway;
southward along Ellis Avenue;
westward along Lake Shore Boulevard West; and then
northward along Windermere Avenue to The Queensway,
ending their trips.Eastbound buses skip their regular stop
- in Humber Loop.
Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on The Queensway east of South Kingsway and Windermere Avenue and at Ellis Avenue,
- on Ellis Avenue at Lake Shore Boulevard West,
- on Lake Shore Boulevard West at Windermere Avenue and
- on Windermere Avenue at The Queensway.
Westbound buses start their trips on Windermere Avenue south of The Queensway, then proceed:
westward along The Queensway to the bus entrance into Humber Loop,
resuming their regular route westward along The Queensway.Westbound buses skip their regular stop
- in Humber Loop.
Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Windermere Avenue at The Queensway and
- on The Queensway east of South Kingsway.
