Yonge Street 10K

The City of Toronto is closing

  • Yonge Street between Lawrence and Erskine Avenues

from about 6 until 11 a.m. Sunday, while organizers set up the starting line for the event, and form participants into “waves” or groups.

It’s also closing all lanes of

  • Yonge Street between Erskine Avenue and Richmond Street

after 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Participants leave the starting point in five waves between 9 and 9:25 a.m. All participants should clear Yonge Street by 10 a.m.

During the race, the City is also closing

  • Richmond Street West between Yonge and Peter Streets,
  • Peter Street / Blue Jays Way between Richmond and Front Streets West and
  • Front Street West between Blue Jays Way and Bathurst Street.

from about 9 until 11 a.m.

Toronto Police Service officers will close the streets to allow participants to pass along the route. After all participants have cleared the roadways, the police will reopen the streets.

The City is also closing a number of streets near Exhibition Place from about 6 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Sunday so that organizers can set up the finish-line area, including

  • Bathurst Street between Front Street West and Fleet Street,
  • Fleet Street between Strachan Avenue and Fort York Boulevard and
  • Fort York Boulevard between Fleet and Bathurst Streets.

Race participants help raise funds to support Camp Oochiegeas, a camp for children with cancer.

The event severely impacts TTC service, especially streetcars and buses operating along Yonge, Bathurst and Fleet Streets or into and out of Eglinton and Davisville Stations. Toronto Police Service officers are helping the TTC maintain transit service on bus and streetcar routes intersecting with the race route. Buses and streetcars operate through gaps between groups of participants, when they can safely do so.
