York University Station construction:
Transit bridge removal starts December 13

TTC contractors continue to work on the project to extend the 1 Yonge - University - Spadina subway northwest beyond Downsview to York University and Vaughan.

TTC, GO Transit and York University buses start diverting Saturday, December 13 to permit contractors to start a large concrete pour at 5 a.m. Crews will start work to permanently remove the York Boulevard transit bridge into the Harry W. Arthurs Common. Also starting this weekend, crews will move lifting equipment onto the construction site to remove the bridge. The bus detour on campus continues until further notice.

The bus diversion may increase traffic congestion and may also delay buses during rush hours on The Pond Road, Ian Macdonald Boulevard, Sentinel Road and Keele Street.

GO Transit is detouring buses entering the campus from The Pond Road:

northward along Ian Macdonald Boulevard to the Harry W. Arthurs Common (green line on map),
ending their trips.

The TTC is detouring buses entering the campus from York Boulevard:

southward along the York University busway;
westward along The Pond Road; and then
northward along Ian Macdonald Boulevard to the Harry W. Arthurs Common (red line on map),
ending their trips.

York University is detouring its own shuttle buses entering the campus from York Boulevard:

southward along James Gillies Street;
westward along The Pond Road; and then
northward along Ian Macdonald Boulevard to the Harry W. Arthurs Common (blue line on map),
ending their trips.

All buses reverse the detour routing when leaving The Common.

Brampton Transit and York Region Transit buses continue along their long-term detour routings through the campus.

During this phase of the project, all vehicles, except buses, should avoid The Pond Road. The university is prohibiting left turns in both directions on The Pond Road at Ian Macdonald Boulevard, Atkinson Road and Seneca Lane during the detour. If you’re planning on parking in the Student Service Garage, use York Boulevard and James Gillies Street when coming to and from the campus.

The university is restricting Ian Macdonald Boulevard to transit, emergency and accessible vehicles. Use James Gillies Street to access the Welcome Centre and The Schulich School of Business. Its also prohibiting access to vehicles on Fine Arts Road from Ian Macdonald Boulevard.

Traffic flag personnel will direct construction vehicles when necessary.
