Update — Saturday, November 1, 1:44 p.m.: Starting Monday, November 3, YRT is adjusting the schedules for the two routes to accommodate delays resulting from the wide detour around the construction zone.


The Region of York is closing

  • Second Concession Road between Queensville Sideroad East and Green Lane East

in East Gwillimbury during a project to

  • widen the road from two to four lanes,
  • install cycling facilities,
  • build a “grade separation”, or bridge, at the rail crossing north of Rogers Road,
  • build a bridge over the East Holland River and
  • install water-mains and sanitary sewers.

starting Monday, August 25.

York Region Transit is detouring buses operating along the 52 Holland Landing and 425 Huron Heights Secondary high school special, while the road is closed.


52 Holland Landing

Mondays to Fridays before 3 p.m. and Saturdays after 2 p.m. starting Monday, August 25, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Mount Albert Road and Second Concession, then detour:

eastward along Mount Albert;
southward along Leslie Street;
westward along Green Lane East; and then
southward into East Gwillimbury GO Station bus terminal,
resuming their regular route.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Second Concession south of Mount Albert Road and at Valley Trail.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Leslie Street across from Mount Albert Road [south], south of Mount Albert Road, across from Ward Avenue and Colonel Wayling Drive and at Green Lane East.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route.

Mondays to Fridays after 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays before 2 p.m., southbound buses operate along their regular route.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route to East Gwillimbury GO Station, then detour:

westward along Green Lane East;
northward along Yonge Street; and then
eastward along Mount Albert Road to Grist Mill Road,
resuming their regular route southward along Grist Mill.

  • on Second Concession Road across from Valley Trail and south of Mount Albert Road and
  • on Mount Albert Road west of Second Concession Road.

  • on Mount Albert Road across from Christopher Street and at Valleyview Avenue and Holland River Boulevard.

Monday-to-Friday school days starting Tuesday, September 2, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Grist Mill and Mount Albert Roads, then detour:

westward along Mount Albert;
southward along Yonge Street; and then
eastward along Green Lane East to Main Street North / Second Concession Road,
resuming their regular route southward along Main North.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Second Concession south of Mount Albert Road and at Valley Trail.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Green Lane East, then detour:

westward along Green Lane East;
northward along Yonge Street; and then
eastward along Mount Albert Road to Grist Mill Road,
resuming their regular route southward along Grist Mill.
