More Davis Drive rapidway construction,
starting May 5

Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Davis Drive in Newmarket.

Starting Monday, April 28, Enbridge crews have been working on the gas mains in the eastbound curb lane on Davis Drive between a point east of Main Street South to the GO Transit tracks near Superior Street, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day. They’ll continue in this site until May 16.

To accommodate construction, GO Transit and York Region Transit are closing the stop for eastbound buses on the south side of Davis Drive at Superior Street, starting at 9 a.m. Monday, May 5.

YRT passengers traveling eastbound towards the Tannery to board GO trains at Newmarket GO Station must exit the buses at the stop on Davis west of Main Street North and cross to the north sidewalk to get to the Tannery.

Crews are working next Saturday, May 10, from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. on the north side of Davis between Lorne Avenue and Vincent Street.

No lane closures will be required for this work, as crews will be working in the boulevard.

Pedestrians accessing the north side of Davis in this area should use the pedestrian pathway on the north. Directional signs will guide you around the construction zone.

During Davis Drive rapidway construction, GO Transit passengers riding express buses operating along the 65 Newmarket / Toronto route and York Region Transit passengers riding local buses operating along the 44 Bristol, 50 Queensway, 54 Bayview, 55 / 55B Davis Drive, 58 Mount Albert, 223 Newmarket GO shuttle and 520 / 521 Newmarket community routes should expect delays.
