Buses replace streetcars on Lake Shore,
starting March 30

The City of Toronto continues its ongoing battle to maintain the Frederick G. Gardiner Expressway in safe condition.

This year, it’s working on three bridges in the west end of the city, including the bridge that carries the expressway over the streetcar tracks connecting Lake Shore Boulevard West with Humber Loop. The work prevents prevents the TTC from operating streetcars along that stretch of track.

Buses replace streetcars along the 301 Queen overnight, 501 Queen and 508 Lake Shore routes west of Humber Loop, starting Sunday, March 30.

Passengers must transfer between buses and streetcars at Humber Loop to continue their journeys further east- or westward along the routes. If you pay your fare with tickets, tokens or cash, you’ll have to pick up a paper transfer when you pay. You’ll have to show the drivers your transfer when boarding buses or streetcars at Humber Loop.

Work on the expressway may also delay GO Transit buses operating along the 16 Hamilton / Toronto express, 21 Milton / Toronto and 31 Guelph / Georgetown / Toronto routes.
