MiWay revises routes and services,
March 24



Changes to MiExpress and MiLocal service along Dundas Street is one of the highlights as MiWay revises its routes and services, starting Monday, March 24.

It’s also preparing for major construction delays resulting from the Hanlan Water Project construction along Dixie and Tomken Roads. It’s increasing service for routes along those two streets, canceling short-turn loops into the Meyerside area and replacing the loops with two new shuttle routes.


MiWay is revising service along these MiLocal routes: 1 Dundas, 1C Dundas - Collegeway; 3 Bloor; 4 Sherway Gardens; 5 Dixie; 5B Dixie - Meyerside; 7 Airport; 12 Rexdale; 20 Rathburn; 23 Lakeshore; 24 Northwest; 34 Credit Valley; 35 / 35A Eglinton; 45A Winston Churchill - Speakman; 48 Erin Mills; 51 Tomken; 51A Tomken - Meyerside; 52 Shawson Loop; 55 Meyerside Loop; 57 Courtneypark; 70 Keaton; 76 City Centre - Subway;

It’s also revising service along these MiExpress routes: 101 / 101A Dundas express; 107 Malton express; 109 Meadowvale express; 201 Dundas limited-stop express.


Specifically, MiWay is: introducing new routes; canceling a route; introducing a new branch of a route; canceling branches of routes; increasing service along routes; decreasing service along routes; increasing the frequency of service along routes; decreasing the frequency of service along routes; revising the paths of buses operating along routes; adjusting the schedules of routes; and making other changes to service along routes.


Introducing new routes


55 Meyerside Loop

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay is increasing the frequency of service along the 5 Dixie route Mondays to Fridays during rush hours to compensate for delays resulting from upcoming work on the Hanlan Water Project on Tomken Road. It’s also canceling the 5B Dixie - Meyerside branch of the route and replacing it with service along this new shuttle route.

MiWay is co-ordinating the schedule with service along the 5 Dixie route to help passengers easily transfer between buses serving each of the two routes.

Buses start their trips on Courtneypark Drive East east of Dixie Road, then proceed:

westward along Courtneypark East;
southward along Ordan Drive;
eastward along Meyerside Drive;
southward along Bonhill Drive;
westward along Trinity Drive;
northward along Dixie Road;
eastward along Meyerside;
southward along Bonhill;
eastward along Trinity;
southward along Atlantic Drive;
eastward along Britannia Road East;
northward along Netherhart Road;
westward along Meyerside;
north- and eastward along Bonhill;
northward along Netherhart; and then
westward along Courtneypark East to just east of Dixie,
ending their trips.

52 Shawson Loop

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay is increasing the frequency of service along the 51 Tomken route Mondays to Fridays during rush hours to compensate for delays resulting from upcoming work on the Hanlan Water Project on Tomken Road. It’s also canceling the 51A Tomken - Meyerside branch of the route and replacing it with service along this new shuttle route.

MiWay is co-ordinating the schedule with service along the 51 Tomken route to help passengers easily transfer between buses serving each of the two routes.

Buses start their trip on Tomken Road at Courtneypark Drive East, then proceed:

eastward along Courtneypark East;
north-, east- and southward along Ordan Drive;
eastward along Courtneypark;
southward along Dixie Road;
westward along Meyerside Drive;
southward along Vipond Drive;
westward along Britannia Road East;
northward along Shawson Street;
westward along Tristar Drive; and then
northward along Tomken Road to Courtneypark East,
ending their trips.

Introducing a new branch of a route


101 / 101ADundas express

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay operates buses along two branches of the route. It’s designating the current route between Ridgeway Drive and Islington Station at the “101A” branch of the route. It’s revising the path of the route so that some buses operate between South Common Centre terminal and Islington Station. It’s designating the buses operating to and from South Common as serving the main 101 branch of the route.

Mondays to Fridays during rush hours, buses alternate between the 101 and 101A branches. Buses serving stops on each branch drop off or pick up passengers every 20 minutes west of Dundas Street West and Erin Mills Parkway Mondays to Fridays during rush hours. East of Erin Mills, where buses serving each branch share common stops, they drop off or pick up passengers every 10 minutes.

Monday-to-Friday midday, all buses operating along the 101 branch of the route and buses serve stops along the branch every 14 minutes.

Buses serving both branches also drop off or pick up passengers on the University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus.

Service along the 101 branch replaces the current service along the 201 Dundas limited-stop express route. Buses operating along the 101 branch drop off or pick up passengers at all stops along the current 201 route, except:

  • eastbound along South Millway at The Collegewayt and Buttonbush Crescent [north leg] and
  • westbound along South Millway across from Buttonbush Crescent [north leg] and west of The Collegeway.

Canceling a route


201 Dundas limited-stop express

Since MiWay is improving service along the 101 Dundas express route, including extending the path of buses to operate to and from South Common Centre terminal, Friday, March 21 was the last day that it operated buses along this route.

Buses operating along the 101 branch drop off or pick up passengers at all stops along the 201 route, except:

  • eastbound along South Millway at The Collegewayt and Buttonbush Crescent [north leg] and
  • westbound along South Millway across from Buttonbush Crescent [north leg] and west of The Collegeway.

Canceling branches of routes


5B Dixie - Meyerside

Friday, March 21 was the last day that MiWay operated buses along this branch of the route. Starting Monday, March 24, it replaces service along the branch with the new 55 Meyerside Loop route.

MiWay is co-ordinating the schedules of the 5 Dixie and 55 Meyerside Loop routes to help passengers easily transfer between buses serving each of the two routes.

51A Tomken - Meyerside

Friday, March 21 was the last day that MiWay operated buses along this branch of the route. Starting Monday, March 24, it replaces service along the branch with the new 52 Shawson Loop route.

MiWay is co-ordinating the schedules of the 51 Tomken and 52 Shawson Loop routes to help passengers easily transfer between buses serving each of the two routes.


Increasing service along routes


7 Airport

Starting Saturday, March 29, MiWay operates a bus on new north- and southbound trips along the route early Saturday mornings. The northbound bus leaves City Centre Terminal at 5:01 a.m. Saturdays. It ends its trip in Westwood Mall terminal at 5:47 a.m. The southbound bus leaves Westwood at 6 a.m. It ends its trip in City Centre Terminal at 6:49 a.m.

76 City Centre - Subway

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay operates buses on three new eastbound Monday-to-Friday trips along the route. The buses leave City Centre Terminal at 5:51 and 6:34 a.m. and 2:25 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. They end their trips in Islington Station bus terminal at 6:32 and 7:15 a.m. and 3:07 p.m.

It’s also operating buses on four new westbound trips along the route. The buses leave Islington Station at 9:48 a.m. and 5:29, 6:50 and 7:06 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. They end their trips in City Centre Terminal at 10:23 a.m. and 6:07, 7:26 and 7:41 p.m.

101 /101A Dundas express

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay operates buses along the route Monday-to-Friday midday, so that passengers receive express service all day Mondays to Fridays before about 7 p.m.

MiWay is also introducing a new branch of the route, increasing the frequency of service along the route and revising the path of buses operating along the route.

35 / 35A Eglinton

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay operates buses on four new eastbound trips along the route Mondays to Fridays. The buses leave Eglinton Avenue West west of Creditview Road at 6:21, 6:28, 7:10 and 7:18 a.m. They end their trips in Islington Station bus terminal at 7:14, 7:22, 8:09 and 8:21 a.m.

MiWay is also revising the path of buses operating along the route and making other changes to service along the route.

20 Rathburn

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay operates buses on five new westbound trips along the route Mondays to Fridays.

The buses leave Islington Station at 9:09 a.m. and 4:52, 6:38, 7:09 and 7:26 p.m. They end their trips in Erindale GO Station bus terminal at 10:01 a.m. and 5:46, 7:25, 7:53 and 8:10 p.m.


Decreasing service along a route


48 Erin Mills

Friday, March 21 is the last day that MiWay operates the northbound bus that usually leaves South Common Centre terminal at 6:13 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. (The bus usually ends its trip in Meadowvale Town Centre terminal at 6:43 p.m.)


Increasing the frequency of service along routes


5 Dixie

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay is increasing the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays during rush hours to compensate for delays resulting from upcoming work on the Hanlan Water Project on Dixie Road. It’s also canceling the 5B Dixie - Meyerside branch of the route and replacing it with service along the new 55 Meyerside Loop route.

South of Meyerside Drive, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route every 7½ minutes, instead of every 8½ minutes, during morning rush hours. They serve the stops every 10 minutes, instead of every 10½ minutes, during afternoon rush hours.

**North of Meyerside, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops every 7½ minutes, instead of every 17 minutes, during morning rush hours. They serve the stops every 10 minutes, instead of every 21 minutes, during afternoon rush hours.

MiWay is co-ordinating the schedules of the 5 Dixie and 55 Meyerside Loop routes to help passengers easily transfer between buses serving each of the two routes.

101 / 101A Dundas express

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay increases the frequency of service along the route east of Erin Mills Parkway and Dundas Street West Mondays to Fridays during rush hours. Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route every 10 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes.

MiWay is also introducing a new branch of the route, increasing service along the route and revising the path of buses operating along the route.

51 Tomken

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay is increasing the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays during rush hours to compensate for delays resulting from upcoming work on the Hanlan Water Project on Tomken Road. It’s also canceling the 51A Tomken - Meyerside branch of the route and replacing it with service along the new 52 Shawson Loop route.

South of Meyerside Drive, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route every 11 minutes, instead of every 12 minutes, during morning rush hours. They serve the stops every 15 minutes, instead of every 16 minutes, during afternoon rush hours.

**North of Meyerside, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops every 11 minutes, instead of every 24 minutes, during morning rush hours. They serve the stops every 15 minutes, instead of every 32 minutes, during afternoon rush hours.

MiWay is co-ordinating the schedules of the 51 Tomken and 52 Shawson Loop routes to help passengers easily transfer between buses serving each of the two routes.


Decreasing the frequency of service along routes


1 / 1C Dundas

Since MiWay is revising and increasing the frequency of service along the parallel 101 Dundas express route, it’s decreasing the frequency of service along this route.

Starting Monday, March 24, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops on either branch of the route east of Dundas Street West and Mississauga Road every 13½ minutes, instead of every 10 minutes, Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. They serve the stops every 15 minutes, instead of every 13 minutes, after 8 p.m.

Starting Saturday, March 29, the buses serve stops east of Mississauga Road every 16 minutes, instead of every 12½ minutes, Saturdays from about 7:30 a.m. until 9 p.m.

West of Dundas Street East and Mississauga Road, where buses operate along the separate 1 and 1C branches of the route, starting Monday, March 24, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops every 27 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes, Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. They serve the stops every 30 minutes, instead of every 26 minutes, after 8 p.m. (Service along the 1C branch ends around midnight.)

Starting Saturday, March 29, the buses serve stops along each branch of the route every 32 minutes, instead of every 25 minutes, Saturdays before 9 p.m.

MiWay is also revising the path of buses operating along the 1C Dundas - Collegeway branch of the route.


Revising the paths of buses operating along routes


1C Dundas - Collegeway

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay revises the path of buses operating along this branch of the route so that buses operating in both directions along The Collegeway.

Eastbound buses start their trips in South Common Centre terminal, as usual, then proceed:

northward through the terminal;
eastward along Burnhamthorpe Road West;
southward along Erin Mills Parkway;
eastward along The Collegeway;
northward along Mississauga Road; and then
counterclockwise** through the University of Toronto’s Mississauga Campus,
resuming their current route.

Westbound buses continue to operate along their current route.

Eastbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Burnhamthorpe Road West at Sawmill Valley and Mississauga Road (Eastbound buses operating along the 26 Burnhamthorpe route continue to serve these stops.)
  • on Mississauga Road at Sawmill Valley Drive, Featherston Drive and Harkiss Road. (Southbound buses operating along the 44 Mississauga Road route continue to serve these stops.)

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay revises the path of buses operating along the route, so that every second bus Mondays to Fridays during rush hours and all buses midday operate to and from South Common Centre terminal.

It also operates buses along two branches - the main 101 branch with buses operating to and from South Common Terminal and the 101A branch with buses operating to and from Laird Drive west of Ridgeway Drive. Buses drop off or pick up passengers at express stops along the 101 branch Mondays to Fridays before 7 p.m. Buses serve express stops along the 101A branch Mondays to Fridays only during rush hours.

Since Monday, January 28, MiWay has been detouring the routing of eastbound buses so that they operate along Renforth Drive and Highway 401 to gain access to the southbound transit-only ramp to Highway 427 during construction.

Starting Monday, March 24, the temporary routing ends and the buses assume their permanent routing.

Eastbound buses operate along their current route to Matheson Boulevard East and Renforth Drive, then proceed:

eastward along Matheson East and Eglinton Avenue West [Toronto] to the southbound transit-only ramp to Highway 427.

MiWay is also increasing service along the route and making other changes to service along the route.

109 Meadowvale express

Since Monday, January 28, MiWay has been detouring the routing of eastbound buses so that they operate along Renforth Drive and Highway 401 to gain access to the southbound transit-only ramp to Highway 427 during construction.

Starting Monday, March 24, the temporary routing ends and the buses assume their permanent routing.

Eastbound buses operate along their current route to Matheson Boulevard East and Renforth Drive, then proceed:

eastward along Matheson East and Eglinton Avenue West [Toronto] to the southbound transit-only ramp to Highway 427.

Adjusting the schedules of routes


57 Courtneypark

Starting Monday, March 24, the northbound buses that usually leave Islington Station at 8:21 a.m. and 3:15, 4:23, 4:57, 5:29, 6:01, 6:30 and 6:59 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leave, instead, at 8:20 a.m. and 3:13, 4:24, 4:55, 5:32, 5:59, 6:32 and 7 p.m.

The buses serve stops along the route slightly earlier or later than usually, ending their trips in Meadowvale Town Centre terminal at 9 a.m. and 4:31, 5:41, 6:07, 6:39, 7:05, 7:37 and 8:01 p.m.

MiWay is also making other changes to service along the route.

34 Credit Valley

Starting Saturday, March 29, the eastbound bus that usually leaves Erin Mills Town Centre terminal at 12:32 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves, instead, two minutes later at 12:34 p.m. It drops off or picks up passengers at stops along the route two minutes later than usually, ending its trip in City Centre Terminal at 1:11 p.m.

The later trip accommodates passengers traveling from a school along the route, which now has a later dismissal time.

70 Keaton

Starting Monday, March 24, the westbound buses that usually leave Islington Station at 6:38 and 7:18 a.m. leave, instead, at 6:40 and 7:21 a.m. Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route later than usually, ending their trips on Milverton Drive east of Avebury Road at 7:20 and 8:04 a.m.

MiWay is also making other changes to service along the route.

23 Lakeshore

Starting Monday, March 24, the westbound bus that usually leaves Long Branch GO Station at 4:52 a.m. Mondays to Fridays, leaves, instead, four minutes later at 4:56 a.m. It drops off or picks up passengers at stops along the route four minutes later than usually, ending its trip in Clarkson GO Station bus terminal at 5:32 a.m.

The earlier trip improves service for passengers connecting at Lakeshore Road East and Ogden Avenue with a bus operating along the 5 Dixie route.

12 Rexdale

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay adjusts the schedule for buses operating Mondays to Fridays during afternoon rush hours. The adjusted schedules improve service for passengers connecting with GO Transit trains at Malton GO Station.

4 Sherway Gardens

Starting Monday, March 24, the westbound bus that usually leaves Sherway Gardens terminal at 9:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves, instead, five minutes later at 9:35 p.m. The bus drops off or picks up passengers at stops along the route five minutes later than usually, ending its trip on Glengarry Road south of Dundas Street West at 10:08 p.m.

The later trip improves service for passengers transferring from TTC buses at Sherway Gardens or connecting to buses operating along other MiWay routes.

The 9:30 pm westbound trip from Sherway Gardens (STOP #9 0 5 8) will now depart at 9:35 pm to improve passenger connections.

MiWay is also making other changes to service along the route.

45A Winston Churchill - Speakman

Starting Monday, March 24, the southbound bus that usually leaves Meadowvale Town Centre terminal at 8:21 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves, instead, three minutes earlier at 8:18 a.m. The bus serves stops along the route three minutes earlier than usually, ending its trip in Clarkson GO Station bus terminal at

The 8:21 am southbound trip from Meadowvale Town Centre (STOP #2 2 2 8) will now at 8:18 am to improve GO train connections.


Making other changes to service along routes


3 Bloor

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay reorganizes its stops in Islington Station bus terminal to accommodate more service along the 101 Dundas express route and replace service along the 201 Dundas limited-stop express route and ongoing construction on platforms G and H.

Buses operating along the 3 Bloor route pick up passengers at platform E, instead of platform F.

57 Courtneypark

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay reorganizes its stops in Islington Station bus terminal to accommodate more service along the 101 Dundas express route and replace service along the 201 Dundas limited-stop express route and ongoing construction on platforms G and H.

Buses operating along the 57 Courtneypark route pick up passengers at platform E, instead of platform C.

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay is improving access to the southbound transit-only ramp from eastbound Eglinton Avenue and revising the path of the route.

Buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Eglinton Avenue West [Toronto] at Renforth Drive and
  • on Renforth Drive north of Eglinton Avenue West.

MiWay is also increasing service along the route.

70 Keaton

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay reorganizes its stops in Islington Station bus terminal to accommodate more service along the 101 Dundas express route and replace service along the 201 Dundas limited-stop express route and ongoing construction on platforms G and H.

Buses operating along the 70 Keaton route pick up passengers at platform C, instead of platform B.

MiWay is also adjusting the schedule of the route.

107 Malton express

Starting Monday, March 24, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers on Creekbank Road across from Tech Avenue.

24 Northwest

Starting Monday, March 24, buses no longer serve the stop on Eglinton Avenue West [Toronto] at Renforth Drive. Buses continue to drop off or pick up passengers on Renforth Drive north of Eglinton Avenue West.

Starting Monday, March 24, MiWay relocates the stop on North Service Road west of Cliff Road to a point 54 metres (150 feet) further west to improve passenger safety.

MiWay is also adjusting the schedule of the route.
