Starting November 25, Hanlan project
further affects MiWay service

The Hanlan Water Project is the Region of Peel’s largest and most extensive water infrastructure project.

The project to upgrade the feeder mains to the Hanlan Water Treatment Plant has been affecting MiWay service along the 5 Dixie and 23 Lakeshore MiLocal routes since Wednesday, July 31. That day, construction started to affect traffic on Lakeshore Road East between Fergus Avenue and Deta Road.

Starting Monday, November 25, construction is blocking the intersection of Lakeshore East and Ogden Avenue. MiWay is detouring buses operating along the 5 / 5B Dixie route, while the intersection is closed.

Construction on this phase of the project continues until January 2, 2014.

5 / 5B Dixie

From Monday, November 25 until Thursday, January 2, 2014, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Ogden and Atwater Avenues, then detour:

westward along Atwater;
southward along Cawthra Road; and then
eastward along Lakeshore Road East to Ogden,
resuming their regular route eastward along Lakeshore East.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Ogden Avenue at Pelham Avenue and Lakeshore Road East.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Atwater Avenue at Cawthra Road and
  • on Lakeshore Road East at Montbeck Crescent, East Avenue and Lakefront Promenade.
