Starting September 26, Hanlan project
further affects MiWay service(*)

The Hanlan Water Project is the Region of Peel’s largest and most extensive water infrastructure project.

The project to upgrade the feeder mains to the Hanlan Water Treatment Plant has been affecting MiWay service along the 5 Dixie and 23 Lakeshore MiLocal routes since Wednesday, July 31. That day, construction started to affect traffic on Lakeshore Road East between Fergus Avenue and Deta Road.

Starting Tuesday, September 3, MiWay started operating extra buses along the two routes to reduce the impact of construction on service levels.

Starting Thursday, September 26, work on the project continues further west along Lakeshore East — at the intersection of Westmount Avenue — further affecting service along the 23 Lakeshore route.

At Westmount Avenue, crews are building a launch shaft to start tunneling to upgrade the watermains beneath Lakeshore Road between Westmount Road and Etobicoke Creek.
