TTC detours buses starting April 23
during West Donlands construction



Update — Thursday, June 19, 5:35 a.m.: Construction has ended and buses resume their regular routing Saturday, June 21.


Update — Saturday, January 4, 2014, 6:31 p.m.: The TTC is canceling service along the 72A Pape via Commissioners route and replacing it with the new 172 Cherry St route, starting Sunday, January 5.

Also: construction did not end in early 2013, as the TTC originally announced.


The City of Toronto is closing

  • Cherry Street between Front Street East and Lake Shore Boulevard East

to start working on the West Donlands development east of the Distillery District. (The area will be the site of the athletes’ village during the PanAmerican and ParaPanAmerican Games in 2015.)

The TTC is detouring buses operating along the 72A Pape via Commissioners route during the construction., which likely continues until early 2013.


172 Cherry St

Starting Sunday, January 5, 2014, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Parliament and Mill Streets, then detour:

southward along Parliament; and then
eastward along Lake Shore Boulevard East to Cherry Street,
resuming their regular route southward along Cherry.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Mill Street east of Parliament Street and at Trinity and Cherry Streets.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Parliament Street across from Mill Street.

Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Cherry Street at Mill Street and
  • on Mill Street at Trinity and Parliament Streets.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Parliament Street at Mill Street.
72A Pape via Commissioners

Starting 9 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, westbound buses operate along their regular route to Cherry Street and Lake Shore Boulevard East, then detour:

westward along Lake Shore East; and then
northward along Parliament Street to Mill Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Parliament.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Cherry Street at Mill Street and
  • on Mill Street at Trinity and Parliament Streets.

Eastbound buses reverse the detour routing.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Mill Street east of Parliament Street and at Trinity and Cherry Streets.
