Pedestrian restrictions at Union Station start this weekend

Starting tomorrow, Saturday, February 11, the ongoing TTC project to expand the subway platform at Union Station will restrict pedestrian access to and from the VIA Rail Canada / GO Transit station at both street and subway levels along Front Street West.

Starting tomorrow, the pedestrian walkway on the south side of Front Street in front of Union Station closes for 18 months. Passengers can reach this area only by using a temporary walkway along the façade of the building that exits close to the intersection of Bay and Front Streets.

For the next few weeks, construction blocks the west-end doors from the main-floor station concourse onto Front Street, but you can gain access to Front Street through the central doors.

In addition to these street-level closures, the work will periodically block doors on the subway level. The west-end subway-level doors close for two weeks starting this weekend and, when they reopen, the east end doors will then close for two weeks. Throughout this phase of the construction, the central doors on this level will remain open.
