Buses detour during subway construction at York University

York University is closing several roadways near the Harry W. Arthurs Common on the Keele Campus to accommodate TTC contractors who are starting to work on the future campus subway station.

The University is closing

  • Ian Macdonald Boulevard between Vanier Lane and Fine Arts Road, and
  • York Boulevard between Ian Macdonald Boulevard and James Gillies Street

to general traffic.

Buses can still reach the Commons, however. The University recently widened the south lanes of York Boulevard between James Gillies and Ian Macdonald and built a north-south access road through the eastern end of the commons just for buses. It’s also built a new bypass road to carry general York Boulevard traffic to and from Ian Macdonald. The bypass starts on York across from the York University Busway and ends on Ian Macdonald across from Vanier Lane.

During the construction, Brampton Transit, GO Transit, the TTC and York Region Transit are detouring buses serving the campus.
